Only those residing within the proposed city limits could participate in the vote — about 300 people. 212 people voted 'for,' and six voted 'against.' The city will combine SpaceX facilities and residential complexes where company employees primarily live.
After the ballots are counted, the election results must be confirmed by county commissioners, and then the new municipality will be registered.
This measure will allow for an increase in personnel at SpaceX facilities and will grant local authorities a wide range of powers: for example, regarding zoning, construction, and other aspects of life.
