Adobe Integrates AI Assistant into Photoshop and Express, Adds Support for Google's Nano Banana
Adobe has rolled out a major update for its Creative Cloud suite, introducing a new AI assistant for Photoshop and Express, expanding generative AI capabilities, and releasing powerful new tools for photographers and video editors.

AI Assistant Comes to Photoshop and Express
- An AI-powered chat assistant is now integrated into both Creative Cloud Express and Photoshop, designed to handle multi-step workflows and offer creative advice.
- In Photoshop, the chatbot resides in a side panel, recognizes layers, and helps automate routine tasks like background removal or color replacement. This feature is currently in a closed beta.
Expanded Generative Capabilities
- Third-Party Models: Photoshop now supports third-party generative fill models, including Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash and Black Forest Labs' Flux.1 Kontext, for replacing objects or backgrounds.
- Harmonize Feature: The Harmonize tool is now publicly available. It seamlessly blends new objects into an image by automatically adjusting shadows, color, and lighting.
- Firefly Image 5: Adobe’s proprietary model has been updated to its fifth version, now generating images up to 4MP with improved realism, especially in human renderings.
Smart Tools for Photographers and Video Editors
- Lightroom: A new Assisted Culling feature uses AI to analyze large photo sets, filtering them by focus and sharpness to select the best shots for editing.
- Premiere Pro: The Object Mask AI feature, which automatically separates objects from their background, is now publicly available.
- Project Moonlight: Adobe also teased an upcoming AI assistant that will analyze an author's social media to better understand and match their unique style. This is currently in closed beta testing.
