OpenAI introduced Apps SDK for integrating third-party services into ChatGPT and AgentKit for creating AI agents
At its DevDay 2025 conference, OpenAI announced a suite of major updates, including the ability to use third-party apps directly within ChatGPT, a new toolkit for building AI agents, and API access to its latest models.

Seamless App Integration in ChatGPT
Users can now connect to applications without leaving the chat interface. In a live demo, a prompt asking Coursera for a machine learning lesson instantly embedded a playable video from the platform, allowing for immediate follow-up questions within the same conversation.

- Another example showcased asking Zillow to find homes for sale in Pittsburgh, which brought up an interactive map with listings directly in the chat, ready for further refinement.
- In addition to direct commands, ChatGPT will proactively suggest relevant apps. Launch partners include Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, Spotify, and Zillow, with 11 more like Uber and Tripadvisor scheduled to join in 2025.
- The feature is rolling out to all registered users (free, Go, Plus, and Pro) outside the EU. Developers can start building integrations with the preview version of the Apps SDK, with submissions opening later in 2025.
AgentKit: A New Toolkit for Building AI Agents
OpenAI also introduced AgentKit, a comprehensive suite of tools for developers to create, deploy, and optimize custom AI agents. The kit includes:
- Agent Builder: An intuitive interface for creating and managing agents.
- ChatKit: A set of tools for embedding customized chat agents directly into your own products.

Major API and Model Updates
- ChatKit and the updated Evals tool for prompt testing are now available to all developers, with Agent Builder in beta.
- The highly anticipated API for GPT-5 Pro is now live. Additionally, an API for the advanced video generation model, Sora 2, is also available.
- Codex, the AI coding assistant, is now generally available with significant updates, including a new Slack integration, a dedicated SDK, and enhanced admin tools.
